MISSION STATEMENT

Opening Gaits is a charitable organization dedicated to providing a safe environment for children and young adults with mental and/or physical disabilities, so they may enjoy the pleasure and therapy of horseback riding.

Riding has been proven to be a very effective way of improving flexibility, balance and muscle strength. It also provides the participants with a sense of achievement and improves their self-confidence.

Opening Gaits was founded in 1998 by a diverse group of business, professional and other Calgarians, who were united in a passion for horses and a commitment to serving the community.

The primary goal is to provide therapeutic riding to people with physical and mental challenges

Program takes place at Green Briar Stables, located 12 km east of of Deerfoot junction on Hwy 22X.
